Windows Vista has been out since the end of January. It sold over 20 million copes in its first month! At a few hundred dollars per copy, Microsoft is doing quite well with the latest version of its operating system. Company executives believe that it will easily surpass the success of Windows XP.

Windows Vista: have you upgraded?

I have not found anything wrong with XP. Let's give Vista a while longer and see if they come up with a patch for this and a patch for that.

I haven't upgraded from XP, simply because the advantages of doing so are not clear to me. Microsoft seems to expect every PC user in the world to instinctively buy up their new products simply because they are new and they are made by Microsoft. In my opinion, they have done a poor job of explaining the true features and benefits of Vista -- They should give us a truly compelling reason why we all need to go through the expense and setup headaches of an operating system upgrade.

I will NOT be upgrading to Vista. I work for a computer repair shop in Dalton, so it pays to know all you possibly can. Microsoft had a lot of complaints about the Jan '08 cut off date for OEM versions of Win XP and extended it to Jul '08... this means that you have a limited time to get your copy if you plan to roll back your Windows Vista OS. Here's the trick to it... Not every computer running Vista will run XP. There have been changes in the BIOS chipsets and a few other strategic places to force people to conform to Vista. Dirty strategy, but it seems to work for the billionaire making more money from it. Plus...Vista is only going to be out for 2 years before we have yet another new OS.... dubbed Windows 7 (That is at least the Beta name for it). With that being said, why worry with Vista now, when you can get it on steroids with all the bugs worked out in another year?

I agree with your statement on VISTA, but if you buy a new system it comes with VISTA. I just got a new DELL Laptop and I can't get it to work with my new OKI printer. I have called OKI, downloaded the up dates and they say it should work but ................. So I have a $1000 printer and fixing to buy my wife a new desk top for her Nursing studies and can not use my Lazer printer........Nobody seams to have an ans. to fix the problem.......But it is MICRO-SOFT, any way they can screw you they will.
