Catoosa County fire ruled arson
Emergency crews battled a fire in Catoosa County early Thursday morning, March 2, and investigators say it was arson.
According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department, the blaze erupted around 4:13 a.m. at 37 Mark Lane just off Roach Hollow Road.
Catoosa County Fire & Rescue was able to extinguish the flames, while fire marshal investigators combed through the scene to determine the cause.
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said fire investigators with his office have ruled arson as the cause of the incident.
"The fire ... originated in the kitchen area of the home," Hudgens said. "The fire destroyed the residence, which was vacant with no utilities connected. Investigators determined that a flammable liquid was used to started the fire."
