Franklin re-elected district attorney by slim margin

Based on preliminary election results, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit district attorney Herbert “Buzz” Franklin has retained his job by a slim 43 votes.
In Tuesday’s general primary election, Franklin defeated challenger Doug Woodruff, 10,973 to 10,929 votes, in the four-county judicial circuit, which includes Catoosa, Walker, Chattooga and Dade counties. The numbers include all precincts reporting in Catoosa, Walker and Dade counties, and 12 of 13 precincts reporting in Chattooga County.
Here are the totals, with Franklin’s votes first, followed by Woodruff’s votes: Catoosa, 3616 to 4520; Walker, 4836 to 5180; Chattooga, 373 to 218; Dade, 2148 to 1012.
There are no Democratic challengers for the district attorney post.
