Missing LaFayette man found dead in creek in Dalton

A LaFayette native who was reported missing on Friday was found deceased in a creek not far less than a mile from the apartments where he was living in Dalton.

According to Dalton Police Department's Public Relations Specialist Bruce Frazier, 26-year-old Colin Shropshire was last scene Friday, March 3, at 1 a.m., on foot and leaving an apartment complex called The Cliffs on Shugart Road in Dalton.

Shropshire was listed as still residing in LaFayette.

On Friday, Shropshire was entered into the GCIC missing persons database.

A passerby discovered the body of Shropshire about a half-mile from the apartment complex in a creek around a heavily overgrown area next to Academy Sports and Home Depot.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. Shropshire's body has been sent for an autopsy at the crime lab in Atlanta.
