One person dead, another injured in Fort Oglethorpe taxi crash

One person died and another is in critical condition following a crash in Fort Oglethorpe on Sunday, April 2, police say.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department, the fatal automobile accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. Sunday when a van ran off the road and struck a utility pole.

Terry Bernard Pickens, 46, of East Ridge, Tenn., was killed instantly due to head injuries suffered from the impact.

Twenty-six-year-old Sonota Holley, of Chattanooga, Tenn., who was driving the vehicle, was taken to Erlanger hospital where she's currently listed in critical condition.

Police say the 2003 Chevrolet Venture van was traveling west on Cloud Springs Road when it ran off the right edge of the roadway and crashed its passenger side.

The van belongs to Millennium Taxi Service, which employs both Holley and Pickens.
