After a one-year hiatus, the Down Home Days festival will return to celebrate its 41st year of spring entertainment in Chickamauga.
The Chickamauga Lions Club sponsors the festival as its primary fundraiser of the year, according to event organizer Donna Calhoun.
Decreased membership in 2012 prevented the continuation, but a surge in volunteers for 2013 has made the family-friendly event possible for 2013.

One of the biggest events coming to northwest Georgia is just around the corner, in both location and time.
The 150th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga takes place Sept. 20-22. More than 10,000 re-enactors will be simulating the clash of Union and Confederate armies in 1863 in McLemore’s Cove in Walker County.
Fort Oglethorpe’s tourism board is hoping to reap some of the benefits of visitors to the area, due to the city’s close proximity to the reenactment.
