Appeal hearings for former Fort Oglethorpe police chief David Eubanks and former public works director Jeff Long have been postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
A news release today from the city states: “Attorneys for David Eubanks and Jeffrey Long, presented to counsel for the city of Fort Oglethorpe, a notice of conflict whereby they were unable to resolve a conflict in appearances between a criminal court in Cleveland, Tennessee, and an oral argument before another court.”

Police say between five to fifteen people were killed and more than 160 were injured in a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant near Waco, Texas, late Wednesday.
The explosion at West Fertilizer in downtown West — a community of roughly 2,600 residents about 20 miles north of Waco — happened around 8 p.m. and could be heard as far away as Waxahachie, a town located 45 miles north. It sent flames spiraling high into the evening sky and rained burning embers, shrapnel and debris down on frightened residents.

The city of Ringgold is not a stranger to social media updates when it comes to tragic situations.
Few in northwest Georgia will forget following the reports of the death and destruction of the April 27, 2011, tornados that struck Catoosa County.
Two years later, many Catoosa County residents found themselves following the bombings that sent terror throughout the streets at the Boston Marathon on Monday April 15.

At least 16 Chattanooga-area residents were entrants in the Boston Marathon that was rocked by two explosions this afternoon.
Marathon participant and Ringgold resident Matthew Amick traveled to Boston with his wife, Angela. Amick told Nooga.com he completed the race at 1:42 p.m. and estimates he had only been gone from the area about 10 to 15 minutes before the explosions occurred. He said he learned of the bombings from Twitter while traveling back to his friends' house.

The city of Fort Oglethorpe has canceled its next council meeting in preparation for two appeal hearings scheduled for Monday, April 22. The hearings are open to the public.
Former police chief David Eubanks and former public works director Jeff Long are appealing their firings. Both were fired March 22.
Both hired Ringgold attorney McCracken Poston.
Long’s appeal will take place at 10 a.m. in the city council meeting room at city hall. Eubanks’ appeal will be heard in the same location at 1 p.m.

Dish Network is launching a $25.5 billion bid for Sprint Nextel.
The offer is an attempt to put a halt to Softbank of Japan's acquisition of the major U.S. wireless carrier.
Dish said it's offer is superior to the Japan firm's.
Dish will offer $4.76 in cash and and 0.05953 Dish shares per Sprint share. The offer reflects Friday's closing price.
In pre-market trades on Monday, Sprint shares leaped over 13%.

The Catoosa County News filed a Freedom of Information request and received personnel files — totaling 723 pages — on five employees: former Fort Oglethorpe city manger Ron Goulart, who was forced by the mayor and city council to resign on March 22; Harold Silcox, a former city council member who was named interim city manager immediately after Goulart announced he was resigning; former police chief David Eubanks, who was fired by Silcox
