Blood Drive To Be Held In Catoosa County For Prison Fire Chief Matthew Mann

Walker County will be sending a small group to a blood drive in Catoosa County in honor of Prison Fire Chief Matthew Mann on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. The group will include Walker County Fire Chief and Emergency Services Director Blake Hodge. Many of firefighters have already given blood in support of Chief Mann, so not all are eligible this time.

Chief Mann continues to recover from injuries suffered during a serious crash on Jan. 19. He received over 50 units of blood while in the ICU.

Man allegedly cut his own throat during hostage situation in Catooosa

A man is in the hospital in after he allegedly cut his own throat during a hostage situation Saturday night, Feb. 11, in Ringgold.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred Saturday about 6:18 p.m. at the Mega Star 4 gas station at the corner of Mt. Pisgah Road and Alabama Highway.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call that a man was trying to cut people with glass and had taken a hostage inside the store, reports show.

Two women charged with armed robbery in Catoosa County; detectives searching for third suspect

Two women in custody for armed car robbery, in pursuit of third suspect

Two armed robbery suspects are behind bars in Catoosa County with a third on the loose after the trio allegedly stole a man's car at knife point in Ringgold, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department:

Cornelia Victoria Perry, 29, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Stephanie Amanda Cannon, 33, of Hixson, Tenn., were arrested Wednesday, Feb. 8, on charges of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug-related objects, and a charge of engaging in criminal activity while having street gang affiliations.

Missing Fort Oglethorpe child located, mother on the run from police

Fort Oglethorpe child found, mother flees scene

Fort Oglethorpe police were able to recover a missing child Monday afternoon, Feb. 6, but the child's mother is still on the run after abducting him over the weekend.

Thirty-five-year-old Amanda Demarious Holloway of Fort Oglethorpe is wanted on a charge of interference with custody after she allegedly botched a visitation with the child, and failed to return him to his custodial grandparent last week.

If you call 911 from a cell phone, there's a chance help may not be able to find you.

Hamilton County's Executive Director for Emergency Communications John Stuermer says less than half of calls made from a cell phone actually give your location.

"People should be concerned and we in the industry are very frustrated," Stuermer said.

When you call 911 from a landline it will show your exact address and phone number.

When cell phones became popular in the 1990's Stuermer says it made finding people difficult.

Ringgold to open downtown recycling location Feb. 11

After months of discussion and planning, the city of Ringgold will open its new downtown recycling site beginning Saturday, Feb. 11.

The site, which is located across from the Little General Children's Park at the corner of Cleveland and Lafayette streets, will give residents and local businesses the opportunity to better the environment.

After securing a container, choosing a location, and learning more about the process, the City Council decided in a Jan. 9 meeting that the facility can only be used by residents and businesses that are located inside the city limits.

Police Arrest 2 Ringgold Men After Stolen Van, Large Amount Of Meth Found At Motel 6 On Lee Highway

2 men arrested Ringgold theft

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office arrested two Ringgold, Ga., men after a stolen van and a large amount of meth were found at the Motel 6, 7707 Lee Highway.

Mitchell Sullivan, 45, of 104 Princess Lane, Ringgold, is charged with theft of property over $10,000, possession of meth for resale, possession of heroin for resale, possession of hydrocodone for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

In the incident last Wednesday, a deputy was doing a business check at the location, which he said is known for its "well-document drug activity."

Catoosa County attempted murder suspect Weldon now in custody

catoosa attempted murder suspect in custody

A two-day manhunt in Catoosa County for Wesley Gage Weldon ended Thursday night, Jan. 26, when authorities were able to track him down and get him into custody.

According to Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk, his agency received a tip Thursday evening that Weldon was holding up at a residence in Walker County.

Around 8:30 p.m., members of the Catoosa and Walker County sheriff's departments and U.S. Marshalls approached the residence, where they indeed located Weldon.

Sisk says Weldon tried to evade officers again, but was tased and immediately taken into custody.
