I would be just as happy using the Rock fitness center as the YMCA. The name doesn't matter to me. I read that Catoosa Co. turned down the proposals but nobody reported what the proposals were. I'd like to know what the Rock offered. What are the citizens going to get for their money? What exactly would the Rock or the Y give us and what are they asking Catoosa Co. to do in return?

Yes I do. The reason why The Rock want work for me is because of me being a senior citizen. My Blue Cross Blue Shield supplement makes it possible for me to have "free access" to the YMCA which gives me another means by which I can hope to leave a more healthy life.
I pray that the coming of a YMCA in our immediate area is without further delay. ...

This poll is asking the wrong question. How many of you would answer yes if the question was this :

Do you feel like a new YMCA would benefit Catoosa County if you had to pay $1-2 Million plus free taxpayer owned land to build it ,despite poor roads ,overcrowded schools and sewage bubbling through your subdivision ?

Anyone want to vote again ?

Where did you get the 1-2 Million dollar figures from? I still haven't seen the proposals that have been put forth. I figured that if Catt.com could post a poll, maybe they could report on the facts of the case so we could make an informed decision? Or maybe the City Council could be a little more forthcoming with info so we would know what's going on? Why not post a story right here so we could all see it?

Frontage on 2a can be $500k to $1500k graded and prepped for sewer, utilities, water and street access. This would be given to the Y of Chattanooga for 25 years for the low price of $1 per year. Then, the county would have to give the Y of Chattanooga $500k to build a couple soccer fields.
So, the Y would still charge for membership (more than the Rock) and when a "community project" comes up that is hosted by the Y, they still ask for hand outs to pay for the event. The Y would take away members from a private (taxpaying) business and possibly run them out because of the proximity. How does this benefit Catoosa County?

I encourage anyone who is curious to ask their elected officials for the proposals and weigh the cost/benefits for yourself.
BTW, the Rock does have a special rate for seniors. They also donate to local schools. Let's promote private business here in Ringgold, they pay taxes and benefit our community.
