Was President Obama's pick of Sonia Sotomayor a good choice for Supreme Court Justice?

It is interesting that in a mostly republican county, (most elected officials in government in this area conservatives) all the poll results concerning politics are always skewed conservatively.
This poll however, is quite the opposite, so I would suspect foul play by a liberal prankster (voting and clearing cookies to skew results).
There is no way a conservative (republican or libertarian) would vote that a gun-hating reverse-racists who likes to make policy from the bench would be a good choice. IMHO

That is because most of the country is not conservative. People in the South can't look past their front porch to see the bigger picture. Before you start calling me a yankee, I was born and raised here.

We finally have a president who is a humanitarian and a statesman. Our president is making good choices because he consults the best minds in the country. He also knows the law. Sonia Sotomayor will bring her experience and knowledge of the law to the bench. However she rules, it will be derided as "activist" by the ideologues who disagree with her. It is nonsense to believe that rulings by conservative judges are not activist.

While I agree that Sotomayer is a good person and very qualified, I do not feel that was Obama's sole rationale for choosing her. I feel Obama's motive is to sway the latino vote and, if it means a re-election for him, he will see that every latino in the country is registered to vote and will speed up the pathway to citizenship to do so. In other words, I feel he made a good choice but for the wrong reasons.

I hope the Republicans don't take this lying down. This nomination is a slap in face to every conservative and every white American reguardless of his/her political views. It's also an insult to the framers of the Constitution and to our lawmakers to have a Justice who legislates from the bench.

If Sotomayor is appointed to the Supreme Court she will shift the majority to the liberal side. With that in mind, all interpretations of Constitutional law will be liberal. We are headed to Socialism at a landslide speed. Once Pres. Obama has the House, the Senate and the Court deciding if his policies are best we will see more and more intrusion into our liberties

The people that think we are on the verge of Socialism every time a Democrat gets elected really confuses me. Just because someone is Liberal, it doesn't mean they are in favor of Socialism. That is like me saying that during the 8 years of Bush we were headed straight for Fascism. It is absolutely ludicrous. The country still runs off of checks and balances from both sides despite who is in the Presidency and who has the majority. Just get over it.

The income tax system is redistribution of wealth, some people get back thousands more than they pay in while I pay in thousands. The government owns a majority of GM and part of Chrysler. We are headed for rationed health care paid for by government (really the middle class will pay). Government intrudes on every aspect of our lives. Example; I have to wear a seat belt in MY suv, I can't dig a pond on MY property without permission. We are being seperated from the roots this country was founded on, Christianity. Sounds like socialism to me. The liberals think they are smarter than the public at large and know what we need and will enact laws to cotrol every little part of our lives. This nomination is another step toward their agenda.
