Do you believe the economy is beginning to recover?

A key indicator to the health of the economy is job growth. There are very few jobs out there. Companies aren't hiring and workers aren't moving. I have a degree and can't find anything better than entry-level work.
There are far too many taxes and regulations on businesses. Consumers are not spending as much, so businesses can't afford to hire right now.
It's a tough time.

After the country began moving out of the Great Depression, the unemployment rate remained very high until the government gave just about everyone a job. The main work for that generation of citizens was stopping fascism in Europe and Japan. We are coming out of this thing. Let's pray the recovery doesn't last as long as it did back then.

If you think the Government is going to fix the economy think again. It wasn't FDR that got us out of the Great Depression, it was WWII. I am not sure if the nation's economy is improving or not, and I really have very little control over that. However the things I can control are fine. We can't control the entire nation's economy but we can control our own economy by having a plan to live on less than we make, and stay out of debt. As soon as people stop looking for the govnerment to fix things and take personal responsiblity things will improve.

You are correct that World War II got us out of the Great Drepression pickle. I said that in my entry, but it was our government that spent massive amounts of money to win World War II. The government of the United States of America is not the bad guy. It is comprised of us citizens. There are some things that the government should operate because they do it more justly. I would argue that health care is one because it is a human concern, not for profit exploitation.

Before you go wishing for government funded healthcare you should talk to our neighbors up north. (Canada) They are paying a ridiculous amount of taxes to fund their socialized medicine, and they have to get on a waiting list for a simple MRI. People actually die while waiting to be treated. Do you really want your healthcare decisions to be made by an entity that has as much compassion as the DMV or the IRS?
