Dwight D. Eisenhower. This country was virtually debt-free when he left office or least we had a balanced budget. The most effective president, in terms of getting things done, was Lyndon B. Johnson. However, effective doesn't necessarily mean good. We are still paying for the "Great Society" and the "War on Poverty".

i think it clearly has to be George W. Bush. He went against all logic and actually cut taxes during a war. Brilliant, and see there are no ramifications form that. And his focus, no one can argue about that. We started the war to find the WMDs (BTW Rumsfeld said "We not only know he has them, we know where they are.")to now it was to free the Iraqi people.
