And who are you to tell people what they can and can't do in their own cars. I don't think it should be banned but people should use common sense. Next thing you know they will ban radios and cd plays because people might fear people will listen to their music to loud and not hear a rude driver honking their damn horn at them. If you think making it a law is going to stop it, then think again. Maybe what should be done is letting people learn from their mistake. If they text and a accident happens they they learn from it but making it against the law is just another money grabbing way the police dept and counties will get more money from you.

I hope that when they have this accident you think they should have that they don't kill anyone. Would it be OK if it was your car they hit? I'll bet you're one of the driving texters.

Are drive-by shootings OK as long as they are from your own car?

This seems like one of those "duh" answers to a dumb question, but apparently it isn't for some. I am not persuaded by any argument that suggests that stupid people should be allowed to do stupid things that kill other people. Of course, some of us are so stricken with the libertarian conservative swine flu that we'll argue for anyone's right to do anything. I have an idea. Try texting and batting at the same time. See how many hits you get. Not as many hits as you'll experience if you text and drive I'll wager.

I agree texting should be banned while driving. I find it very difficult to drive and drink beer. Texting would be way to much for me,to have a delicious cold beer, while driving.
