I bet everyone of you who voted NO, has never had a second chance. He screwed up and paid with jail time, give the man a chance to play football.

So there is no difference between torturing and killing a dog that is tied up and accidentally hitting a dog with your car? Can someone please explain this to me, I'd really like to know

I voted no. A second chance? He did the jail time and soon will be out to live a normal life. That's more than those dogs received. Why should he go back to the status of a professional athlete making mega money, being in the position of a role model when he wasn't responsible the first time. Most quarterbacks use their wealth for charity i.e. Doug Flutie, the Manning Brothers, etc, etc, he used his to buy fighting dogs and break the law. He's been released his second chance is a chance to get a job and be a productive member of society and follow the rules like we all have to do. Why should he be given more fame and fortune?

Have you read your bible? Man is over all the animals. I don't agree with intent to kill dogs or fight them but Vick did do his time and needs a second chance. God gives us all a second chance, doesn't he? He shouldn't be punshied forever for dog abuse. What about the people who have hurt humans. They get second chances. I say drop it and move on. Let him get on with the rest of his life.

A role model should be the kids parents, not a professional athlete. Also you think that if you go to jail for something; you shouldn't be able to work in the same profession you worked in before going to jail.

Dog fighting as a sport is not allowed because it is cruel to animals. Hunters are not being cruel when they shoot their food before they eat it. In fact, they would be less cruel than your average slaughterhouse that provides you with meat.

Another note: I don't care what my food thinks before I end its life.

Who is to say a human life is more important than a chicken's life? Or a dog's life? God spelled backwards is Dog, let's let the dogs run the show for awhile, couldn't get any worse out there could it?

Yahweh, the Hebrew sky god, killed more animals than Michael Vick could kill in a lifetime according to the Noah story. Thus the God argument is weak. Saying that Vick should not go back to work in the same profession because he might become rich or because it should be a part of his punishment is nonsense. The man did the time. Indeed, he lost millions of dollars, suffered public humiliation, and did prison time. Don't watch him play if you believe he should be punished further.

"Yahweh"??? "Hebrew sky god"??? "the Noah story"??? These threads sound like some people didn't even make it through 6th or 7th grade. Vick should not be allowed to return to his former profession. Things like this are the VERY reason most people do not watch "professional" athletes anymore. Who said we were "watching" him? He's a lousy, washed-up player anyway. Watching him (and the majority of other so-called "professional" players) is as interesting as watching paint dry.

sgcgo5 either did not read all the entries about Vick or he cannot follow an argument. If anyone does not want to watch professional athletes that's their business, and I certainly understand sgcgo5's disillusionment. However, the truth is that Vick is not washed up. He's only 29 years old. He's an exciting player. He may actually learn how to rely more on his arm and less on his feet. If he does that, he will be a dangerous passer because of his arm strength. I regret that the politics of what Vick did, not to mention his personal dishonesty to Arthur Blank, will prevent him from playing for the Falcons. Maybe he can be traded for a high draft pick.

Analysis of the explipations for the no votes.....

It appears that the people that are most against Vick playing again are more against that idea that he becomes wealthy. That seems to be central theme through out this conversation. The fact is that after his house arrest and probation his debt to society will be paid. “Debt to society” only covers the obligation that he owes to the government acting in our behalf. The debt that he owes to the public is an entirely different matter. The fact is that he has an ability that less than 1% of the population has and the going rates for those skills are the salaries that the NFL is willing to pay. It is also important to note that the NFL is, at the end of the day, an entrainment company whose revenue is based on the ability to sell tickets, t-shirts, concessions, and commercial time. We as consumers have the ability to do what the NFL ethically has no right to do. That is to ban Vick from the NFL. If a team owner will lose money by having him on the roster then he won’t be there.

With all that said I think that he will be back. He will sign an incentive laden contract and then it will be on him to sink or swim. Personally I don’t think he will ever be the same but he deserves the opportunity. Just like I have the opportunity, if I am so offended to turn the TV off.
