A LaFayette native who was reported missing on Friday was found deceased in a creek not far less than a mile from the apartments where he was living in Dalton.
According to Dalton Police Department's Public Relations Specialist Bruce Frazier, 26-year-old Colin Shropshire was last scene Friday, March 3, at 1 a.m., on foot and leaving an apartment complex called The Cliffs on Shugart Road in Dalton.
Shropshire was listed as still residing in LaFayette.
On Friday, Shropshire was entered into the GCIC missing persons database.

Prater’s Mill Country Fair, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10 and 11, Columbus Day weekend, is a north Georgia tradition.
“Celebrate our 45th year!” said Melanie Millican Chapman, a volunteer at every fair since the beginning. “We started the fair in 1971 to raise funds to restore the mill. Now we’re proud to say we preserve eight historic buildings at the heritage park owned by the people of Whitfield County.”
Dalton State now has 20 bachelor degrees available for students after the Board of Regents approved adding a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Applied Economics on Tuesday.
The degree will prepare students for careers in finance, insurance, real estate, government, law, and business, according to Dr. Andy Meyer, interim vice president for Academic Affairs. Having this degree will also prepare students to fill a need in the Northwest Georgia community.
Shaw Industries Group Inc. plans to spend tens of millions of dollars at a South Carolina carpet fiber plant to increase the use of fiber from recycled plastics.
The world’s largest carpet maker, based in Dalton, Ga., is planning new polyester extrusion operations that will include the use of recycled PET beverage containers. The company also will add nylon fiber capacity.
Production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter at the Lexington County, S.C., plant.
Walmart will hire up to 95 associates to work at the new Walmart Neighborhood Market slated to open this fall in Dalton. A temporary hiring center is open in the Walnut Square Mall, 816 Walnut Square Boulevard, Suite #37.
