One person died and another is in critical condition following a crash in Fort Oglethorpe on Sunday, April 2, police say.
According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department, the fatal automobile accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. Sunday when a van ran off the road and struck a utility pole.
Terry Bernard Pickens, 46, of East Ridge, Tenn., was killed instantly due to head injuries suffered from the impact.
A LaFayette native who was reported missing on Friday was found deceased in a creek not far less than a mile from the apartments where he was living in Dalton.
According to Dalton Police Department's Public Relations Specialist Bruce Frazier, 26-year-old Colin Shropshire was last scene Friday, March 3, at 1 a.m., on foot and leaving an apartment complex called The Cliffs on Shugart Road in Dalton.
Shropshire was listed as still residing in LaFayette.
On Friday, Shropshire was entered into the GCIC missing persons database.
Chattanooga (WTVC) — Chattanooga police are looking for whoever stabbed a man to death at a Hixson bar Tuesday morning.
According to a release from the chattanooga police department, 36-year-old Shawn Russell died from his injuries.
Police say Russell got into a fight with the suspect inside Rumors Bar on Hixson Pike.

FITZGERALD, Ga. — Authorities say seven people have been charged in the shooting death of a recent Georgia Lottery winner.
Ben Hill County Sheriff Bobby McLemore tells WFXL-TVthe seven suspects, who range in age from 17 to 28 years old, all face charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

A fatal two-vehicle accident occurred Sunday in the Villanow area when a woman lost control of her motorcycle.
According to Georgia State Patrol Post 41 in LaFayette:
About 3:45 p.m. Tonya Loraine Jones, 44, of Austell, was driving a 2015 Harley Davidson west along Ga. Highway 136, just past Armuchee Road in Taylor’s Ridge.
During the second day of the trial for a Ringgold foster mother accused of murder, witnesses described how the 2-year-old victim often seemed withdrawn and unhappy.
The trial began Tuesday in Catoosa County Superior Court, with jury selection taking place Monday. The jury consists of seven women and five men.
CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -
A 16-year-old boy is dead after detectives say he was shot at his family's home in Catoosa County.
Detectives believe the shooting was accidental, although their investigation is in the preliminary stages.
The call came in before midnight at a residence on Edgemond Circle. Captain Chris Lyons with the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department said other people were home at the time, including some family members.
A gunman opened fire at a movie theater in Louisiana on Thursday evening, killing two people and injuring at least seven others before fatally shooting himself, officials said.
The gunman, a 58-year-old "lone white male," fired his weapon "numerous times" before shooting himself at the Grand Theatre in Lafayette, city Police Chief Jim Craft told a news conference.
Craft said police know the gunman's identity but are not releasing it. He said the shooter's body was still inside the theater and that a coroner was on the scene.
Local authorities discovered the body of a deceased Ringgold teenager on Wednesday afternoon, July 8, along I-75 and U.S. Highway 41 near the 345 exit.
Police and family members identified the teen as 18-year-old Chase Snodgrass of Ringgold, but the cause of death has not been released at this time.
Catoosa County dispatch called authorities to the bridge on U.S. 41 at I-75 just before 1 p.m., at which time Ringgold police officers met with Georgia State troopers and discovered Snodgrass’ body.
A 66-year-old Ringgold man died Saturday night in a collision in Walker County.
According to Georgia State Patrol Post 41:
Daniel Ellis Jeter died in the wreck, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 (Ga. 1) and Ga. Highway 151, south of LaFayette at the Walker-Chattooga line.
