Catoosa County fire ruled arson

Emergency crews battled a fire in Catoosa County early Thursday morning, March 2, and investigators say it was arson.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department, the blaze erupted around 4:13 a.m. at 37 Mark Lane just off Roach Hollow Road.

Catoosa County Fire & Rescue was able to extinguish the flames, while fire marshal investigators combed through the scene to determine the cause.

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said fire investigators with his office have ruled arson as the cause of the incident.

Man crashes vehicle into Rossville home, causes fire

A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning, Jan. 3, after he lost control of his vehicle in Rossville and crashed into a home, causing it to catch of fire, police say.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m.

Officials say the man suffered some sort of medical emergency, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and crash the garage area of the home located at 29 Flagstone Drive, just off Lakeview Drive.

The crashed caused a subsequent fire in the home, police say.

Fire leaves Walker County family homeless

A fire left a family, including a pregnant woman, without a home or any possessions Saturday night, Feb. 27, in Rock Spring.

According to Walker County 911, fire engulfed the residence on Pinewood Drive at Ga. Highway 95 about 8:40 p.m.

The three adults living at the residence were not present at the time, but two dogs perished in the flames.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Fire destroys house in Rock Spring

A house in Rock Spring in Walker County was destroyed by fire Monday night, Jan. 25.

According to Walker County Emergency Services fire marshal and assistant fire chief Waymond Westbrook, firefighters were dispatched to the residence in the 700 block of Peavine Road at 8:43 p.m. The residence has a Ringgold address, but is considered part of Rock Spring.

Fire destroys Golden Corral restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe

A fire destroyed the Golden Corral restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe early this morning.

Catoosa County Fire & Rescue, Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department along with assisting agencies including Walker County Emergency Services, the Georgia Department of Corrections Fire Rescue, and East Ridge Fire Department responded to a huge fire at the Golden Corral on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Officials say no hazardous materials found at site of LaFayette plant fire, so far

On Monday officials with the city of LaFayette, a federal EPA coordinator, and the owner of the business that occupied the old Barwick Mills said that no hazardous chemicals have been found at the scene.

Meanwhile, EPA officials caution residents within a half-mile of the site to seek shelter, shut doors and windows, and turn off heating and air units as heavy smoke is being swirled low to the ground and should not be inhaled.

Fire at Ringgold restaurant apparently started in kitchen area

Fire officials this morning are still trying to determine the exact cause of a fire that erupted at a restaurant late Wednesday night in Ringgold.

The initial investigation is leading authorities to believe it started in the kitchen area.
