Lawsuits Filed In Chattanooga Against Volkswagen For Emissions Scandal

Those are accusations against Volkswagen by many of its owners.  Some of those owners say the value of their cars is now much less, and they want the company to pay up.

Attorneys In Erlanger, Hutcheson Lawsuit Poring Over Thousands Of Pages Of Documents

Attorneys involved in the lawsuit between Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga and Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe said they are poring over thousands of pages of documents, and the discovery process is going to take longer than anticipated.

The attorneys earlier were aiming to have discovery completed by Nov. 20.

The new goal is April 2016.

Attorneys, in a joint motion, told Federal Judge Harold Murphy of Rome, Ga., that the original plan was to have the documents produced by July 20, then finish the depositions by the Nov. 20 deadline.

Lawsuit delayed: Court issues stay for Hospital Authority of Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties

The Catoosa County Superior Court granted an agreed-upon continuance on Monday for a hearing in the lawsuit filed by Catoosa County against the Hospital Authority of Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties.

This places an indefinite halt on proceedings until at least May 13. Following that deadline, the case will remain out of court unless a hearing is actively sought by one of the involved parties.

Erlanger sues Hutcheson to recover $20 million loan, plus interest

Erlanger Health System has filed a second lawsuit against Hutcheson Medical Center, this time for payment of $20 million plus interest.

Erlanger filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Rome on Feb. 27, claiming that Hutcheson breached its line of credit.

Fort Oglethorpe hospital seeking $75 million in damages from Chattanooga hospital

Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe is responding to Erlanger’s demands with demands of its own.

Former Georgia governor Roy Barnes, now an attorney with Barnes Law Group in Atlanta, is representing Hutcheson against a lawsuit filed by Erlanger Health System of Chattanooga.

Erlanger, in a lawsuit filed recently, is attempting to recoup loans to Hutcheson.

Erlanger loaned Hutcheson $20 million under a management agreement that began in April 2011 and is now dissolved. Erlanger last year loaned Hutcheson another $550,000 to cover Hutcheson’s operational needs.

Hutcheson Says It Will Vigorously Defend Erlanger Lawsuit

Hutcheson will Defend Lawsuit

Hutcheson Medical Center and its boards of directors announced the hospital will vigorously defend a lawsuit filed last week by Erlanger Health System and "will remain focused on rebuilding a thriving north Georgia community medical center."

Hutcheson officials said, "The damages we have sustained due to Erlanger’s breach of a management agreement far exceed the amount of any line of credit or other debt owed by Hutcheson to Erlanger."

Fort Oglethorpe council members seek to have lawsuits dismissed

Fort Oglethorpe Council Members Lawsuit

Catoosa County Superior Court Judge John B. Wood heard two motions by attorneys for Fort Oglethorpe council members at a hearing Sept. 11.

A motion to dismiss the four lawsuits will be taken under advisement in the cases asking for mayor Lynn Long and council members Louis Hamm, Clay Kissner and Johnny Smith to be removed from office.

If not granted, judge Wood was asked to consider a motion to consolidate the four lawsuits into one.
