Ringgold Christmas parade

icking off the holiday season with Ringgold’s annual Downhome Christmas parade on Friday, Dec. 6, was a “Splash of Fun.”

The parade featured cars and floats from local businesses, churches and organizations. Even the Ringgold city council and state representatives braved the downpour, along with local schools to spread Christmas cheer amidst a Friday night rain.

Ringgold to Celebrate Down Home Christmas Festival on Dec 6

Ringgold Down Home Christmas

The Down Home Christmas Parade will return to the City of Ringgold on Friday December 6th starting at 6:00 pm.  The parade will begin on Nashville Street and process through downtown to the Ringgold Depot. Santa Claus will marshal the parade to the Depot where he will be available for pictures for the remainder of the festival. After 7:00 pm the Depot will be hosting a variety of children's choir and dance performances.

"We will be lining up floats along both lanes of Robin Road by about 4 pm and it usually extends all the way to Lafayette Street," explained Dr. Ronal Graham who heads the Down Home Christmas Festival Committee.  "The Parade is about as large, if not larger, than the 1890's Day Parade," said Dr. Graham, "it's a lot of fun and we get a bunch of people in town."

Businesses or organizations interested in signing up for the parade can pick up applications at Dr. Ronal Graham's office at 896 Lafayette St. in Ringgold, at City Hall on 150 Tennessee St., or by going to the city website at Applications must be returned or faxed to Dr. Graham's office at 706-935-5355 by no later than November 30th.
